The 47th edition of the final of the Departmental Sports Games “Indeportees of Antioquia” 2024 officially started on Monday, December 2 in Andes, in an atmosphere full of joy, color and emotions. Not even the rain that marked the start of the parade managed to dull the enthusiasm of athletes, coaches, referees and authorities, who walked through the main streets of the municipality until reaching the municipal stadium. “Leonel Ramirez” for the protocol act.
The inaugural meeting was attended by prominent personalities, such as Andrés Julián Rendón Cardona, governor of Antioquia; Luis Fernando Begué Trujillo, manager of Indeportes Antioquia; Germán Alexander Vélez Orozco, mayor of Andes; Claudia Janeth Naranjo Agudelo, mayor of Jardín, and Ferney Cardona Echeverri, deputy manager of Sports Promotion and Development of Indeportes Antioquia, among others.
During his speech, Governor Andrés Julián Rendón expressed: “For us it is very pleasant to be here with you at the opening of this final. Indeportes Antioquia sees, in this contest, the faithful reflection of what its support has been in the preparations to participate in the different contests. “You help us confirm every day that this beautiful department, in all its corners, in its mountains, in its sea, is a land of champions.”
For his part, the manager of Indeportes Antioquia, Luis Fernando Begué, highlighted: “This is our party, it is our ‘Olympic Games’ of the department, and we have prepared all year for these games to be the best. “This is a trigger for the economic and sports sector.”
The opening ceremony included the sports oath, led by Roxana Cano Peña, a prominent skater from Andes, and the oath to the judges, led by Santiago López, indoor soccer referee. The torch with the sports fire was carried by María Antonia Parra Hernández (skating), Simon Restrepo Ortega (underwater activities) and Juan Alejandro Castañeda (athletics), who lit the cauldron, symbolizing the beginning of this great sports festival.
With the participation of more than 7,000 athletes from nearly 90 municipalities, the games will last until Sunday, December 15, with competitions in 33 sports disciplines. Andes and Jardín are the host municipalities, while baseball will be played in Apartadó, in the Urabá subregion.
Sports activities start on Tuesday, December 3, from 6:00 am, with team sports such as soccer, indoor soccer, basketball, handball, volleyball and beach volleyball, and individual disciplines such as athletics, judo, weightlifting, tennis field, taekwondo, shuffleboard and archery.
These games are organized by Indeportes Antioquia, through the Development Sub-Management, in collaboration with the mayors of Andes and Jardín, and are officially sponsored by HidraTAO and Antioqueño Antioqueño, products of the Antioquia Liquor Factory.
