Memphis Depay, Dutch striker who passed through Lyon, scored a superb goal from a free kick with Corinthians against EC Bahia on Tuesday evening in the Brazilian championship.
At 30 years old and now far from European football, Memphis Depay has lost none of his free kick scoring skills. The former Olympique Lyonnais star (76 goals in 178 matches between 2017 and 2021) delighted the supporters of Corinthians, the club he joined last September, during a Brazilian championship match against EC Bahia Tuesday evening.
Very close to the surface, off-center on the left, the Dutchman fired a cannonball which hit the bar before returning. The last goal, scored around the hour mark, in a clear and flawless victory for Corinthians (3-0), 7th in the championship which is experiencing the penultimate day of its 2024 season.
Having played for Manchester United and FC Barcelona, Memphis Depay played for Atlético de Madrid last season. He was a starter in the Netherlands team at Euro 2024, whose journey ended in the semi-finals. He has not been recalled to the selection since.
