Mandi Set to Get a State-of-the-Art Indoor Stadium
Mandi city is poised to welcome a new indoor stadium, a project spearheaded by BJP MLA Anil Sharma under the Central Government’s Khelo India initiative. The enterprising project, estimated to cost between Rs 28 adn 30 crores, aims to provide a world-class facility for a wide range of indoor sports.
Sharma revealed that the stadium’s design is complete, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in the final stages of preparation. Once finalized, the DPR will be submitted to the Central Government through the State Government for approval.
Highlighting the urgency of the project, Sharma emphasized the Khelo India campaign’s deadline of 2025-26.he expressed confidence in securing considerable funding from the Central Government,anticipating a contribution of Rs 20 to 22 crores. The remaining funds will be sought through the State Government. Sharma plans to personally meet wiht central leadership to expedite the budget allocation process.
Demonstrating his commitment to the project,Sharma has already invested Rs 15 lakhs from his MLA fund to initiate crucial groundwork. This includes the transfer of land to the sports Department and the completion of soil testing.
The proposed two-story stadium will be a hub for diverse indoor sports, featuring facilities like:
12 table tennis tables
A 10-meter shooting range
4 squash courts
Juddo and boxing courts
12 badminton courts
3 volleyball courts
