There is great anticipation for the traditional Christmas celebration of Interclub Muggia basketballorganized by the section baskin. This year’s event will be dedicated to this new discipline which is currently experiencing a period of strong growth. “In my opinion, the management had a great idea” begins the BaskInterclub coach, Luca Birnberg. “Being one of the very few clubs in the region that doesn’t just deal with baskin, we decided to involve all the boys and girls in a tournament that will help them learn more about the reality of this sport”. The coach then continues by focusing on the good climate that exists in the club: “Despite this being a transition year, given that we have moved to having one team instead of two – he admits – on a human level I can only be satisfied with this group , which we certainly want to expand.” Speaking about his own journey, the coach feels lucky: “Working both as a psychologist in an autism center and as an instructor, this experience allows me to combine my greatest passions, having also been a player: being able to witness the magic of inclusion that baskin creates is a unique emotion.”
The section manager is also on the same wavelength, Gabriella D’Ambrosi: “I must confess that this is my first year in this position, so all of this is new to me. We are trying to involve the rest of the Interclub more and more intensely in baskin and vice versa.” Despite the decidedly reshuffled number of teams to play against, we absolutely do not lose heart: “I have known basketball for a few years as a player – explains D’Ambrosi – so I have this cause at heart: we always try to stimulate more young people as there is often a turnover in terms of numbers especially for age reasons”. The manager concludes: “It is through the work we are doing that we want to make people understand how baskin is important above all in giving the most vulnerable an opportunity to move more freely in the world.”
