The eternal debate about who is the best tennis player of all time has one more chapter: Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic o Rafael Nadal. On this occasion, the one who referred to the topic was Angelo Binaghipresident of the Italian Tennis Federation. Below are the details.
Binaghi spoke in an exclusive interview with New Sardinia: “Nadal is the best of all, by far, especially off the court. In 24 years I have crossed paths with him many times, between tournaments. And he is truly a special tennis player, a true gentleman, educated, loved by fans, someone who has given a lot to tennis and has enthralled generations.”
Then, he added: “In my opinion even more than Federer, who in person, according to my experience, does not have the same kindness and friendliness as Nadal. And I say the same about Djokovic. He is undoubtedly the strongest player in the world, but in my opinion he does not have the sporting and human depth of Nadal.“
On the other hand, he revealed the moment he met Jannik Sinner: “I had first-hand information, a very confidential and trusted source: my son. He had played a doubles tournament in Tunisia with Sinner and he told me about a partner who was younger than him, but who was already very strong and promising. He must have been about 17 years old then. “Together with my son they reached the semi-finals, but then they had to withdraw because Jannik was injured.”
Italian tennis is currently going through a dream moment. In addition to Sinner, Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti, among others, it has a strong presence on the WTA circuit with Jasmine Paolini (4th)
