This initiative aims to promote the practice of badminton in the region, particularly among young girls and women.
According to the General Secretary of FIBAD, Koua Aude, this training is part of a strategy aimed at developing and relaying the practice of badminton across target populations. “We want to promote women’s sport and encourage young girls, women and youth to adopt this discipline,” she explained.
The regional sports director of Sud-Comoé, Koné Fibla, expressed her gratitude to FIBAD for this initiative which will allow teachers to introduce badminton into schools. She stressed that this sporting discipline can play a crucial role in the development of youth, particularly young girls.
The secretary general of the DRENA of Aboisso, Motché Apollinaire, welcomed this training, which he considers as a preventive measure to keep young people away from vices.
The training session brought together 25 school life delegates, 25 physical education and sports (PE) teachers as well as seven school life advisors.
FIBAD hopes, through this project, to increase the number of women practicing badminton in Ivory Coast.
