She’s a three-time World Champion, for goodness sake! She’s won countless othre medals at the highest levels of competition. Her consistency and longevity are what truly make her a legend.
John: You mentioned “consistency”. How did Mayra’s approach to training and her beliefs impact younger athletes, including yourself?
Kayla: Mayra was always the ultimate professional.
She instilled in me the importance of discipline,hard work,and unwavering focus. She showed us that judo isn’t just about physical strength but also mental fortitude. The way she battled through injuries and setbacks was truly inspiring.
She taught us to never give up, to keep pushing even when things get tough. That’s a lesson that has stayed with me throughout my career.
