At the Palais des Festival in Cannes, the commercial real estate show organized by RX France distinguished around fifteen brands or commercial sites deemed innovative on November 27 during its recurring Mapic Awards ceremony. This year’s theme? “The new equation of commerce”, which brings out players who succeed in navigating in a “competitive and constantly changing” context. Firstly, the retail brand of the year award was given to the Italian cosmetics brand Kiko Milano, which operates more than 900 stores around the world.
The jury chaired by Ana Guedes de Oliveira, development director of Sierra Sonae (Portuguese real estate company), also rewarded the American fast food network Five Guys in the food segment and the concept of games for the Hupalupa family (trampoline, gyms). arcades…) in the leisure category.
Spanish retailer Basketball Emotion was recognized as the best new retail brand, thanks to “dynamic and visually appealing stores”, offering “a personalized shopping experience”. The award for best point-of-sale experience went to the Italian restaurant Barracuda in Brussels, operated by the Big Mamma group.
In terms of more responsible initiatives, the Swedish group Ingka was awarded an award for an action at its Wuxi shopping center in China, which opened a “One drop” store offering professional training and workshops to people with disabilities; while the Trafford Center in Manchester (BWP Group) was rewarded for its energy, water and waste reduction policy.
The CNIT commercial site in La Défense, near Paris, stood out in the center renovation category. This place managed by URW expanded this year with 45 new stores. Another French site has won in the world of “food courts”. This is the La Communale project in Saint-Ouen, led by the real estate company Frey.
The mention for the best new commercial project goes to the Livat Xi’An cluster, in China (Ingka), i.e. 320,000 square meters of businesses which welcomed more than a million people in six days after the opening. The urban renewal project category distinguished “Porta a Mare Waterfront”, on the old port of Livorno in Italy.
The retail innovation prize was awarded to the “Greenwise Energy” project by the company Florawise for Carrefour: it is an AI-driven system that allows lighting and refrigeration to be adjusted. In addition, the most beautiful boutique design (in partnership with the French Design Institute) goes to Infiniment Chocolat, the concept of pastry chef Pierre Hermé.
The Mapic Academy brought out two winners: the Swiss sports socks brand Active Rock, and the Spanish inclusive fashion brand Free from style. Finally, the public prize was awarded to the Palais des Thés chain, while a special jury prize went to a health and sports center for women located in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, and called Kayanee.
