Korean tennis will play against the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup next February
[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Kim Hee-jun = The Korean men’s tennis team meets the Czech Republic in the first round of the Davis Cup 2025 season finals qualifiers, a national competition.

According to the Davis Cup 2025 season finals advance match announced on the 4th, Korea will play in the first round with an away match against the Czech Republic on February 1, 2025 (Korean time).

The Davis Cup is divided into tiers in the following order: the Finals, which are the world’s quarterfinals, the Finals advance round, which determines the team that will advance to the Finals, World Group 1, and World Group 2.

Eight countries, including the seven countries that passed the first and second rounds of the finals and Italy, the host country of the 2025 finals, will compete in the 2025 finals.

If Korea defeats the Czech Republic, it will meet the winner of the U.S.-Taiwan match in the second round.

Korea won the World Group 1 match against Poland in September this year and advanced to the finals.

The Czech Republic has three players within the top 50, including Tomas Machac (25th), Irzy Lejeczka (28th), and Jakub Mencik (48th).

The highest ranked singles player in Korea is Hong Seong-chan, ranked 150th. Soonwoo Kwon follows in 348th place. However, as both are about to enlist, it is unclear whether they will participate.
