Kristaps Porzingis compares his stay with the Celtics with his previous teams: “I had good years in Spain”

Kristaps Porzingis is enjoying the Boston Celtics and it shows. In their first season with the team, they won the ring and it was important for much of the campaign. He had injury problems at the end, something unfortunately quite common for him, but his height, determination, outside shooting and deterrence on the perimeter were fundamental to winning the championship.

In his second season, Porzingis is averaging 20 points, 8 rebounds and 1 and a half blocks per game. But his adventure in Boston is not his first in the NBA or outside. First he passed through Spain, he reached the best basketball league in the world thanks to the New York Knicks and he has worn the shirt of the Dallas Mavericks y Washington Wizards. In a recent interview, he talked about it.

The words of Kristaps Porzingis

“I definitely enjoy playing here like crazy, don’t you?” Porzingis said. “But I would say I also had a lot of fun in Washington even though we didn’t win. I really enjoyed my time there.”

“I always enjoy playing for the (Latvian) national team — a lot of joy there because you’re not forced, you’re there because you want (to be there). It’s a different environment. I also spent good years in Spain (before coming to the NBA).” .

“Of course, my time in Dallas was a little bit more grinding my teeth and trying to find that joy,” Porzingis added. “But also New York… honestly, I always enjoy basketball. I just kind of maybe lost it a little bit in Dallas. Then in Washington, nobody really paid much attention, but I was having a lot of fun, and then obviously now you guys come and see my vibe, smiling and happy.”

“I would say that’s how I’ve been most of my career,” Porzingis said. “It’s now that I’m back on a bigger stage and here where everyone can see how I play and how I enjoy the game.”
