Nick Kyrgios will return to the tennis courts this next season. He will do it at the ATP 250 in Brisbane, from December 30 to January 6, and together with Novak Djokovic. This was announced by the Australian through his Instagram. “Doubles in Brisbane. See you all here,” Kyrgios wrote with a photo in which he appears with Djokovic before the 2022 Wimbledon final.
Kyrgios will be in the singles draw of the tournament, a prelude to the Australian Open, as well as in the doubles. He has not competed since June 2023 when he played in Stuttgart (he lost to the Chinese Yibing Wu in his first match) after a year almost blank due to injuries. This season he has not been able to play either, so he has been away from competition for 18 months.
He Australian tennis player suffered a knee injury in 2022 which took him away from the courts after being a finalist at Wimbledon. Then he would be joined by another ailment in his foot and right wrist. The latter prevented him from not only holding a racket, but also opening a jar or pushing a door. A newspaper report The Canberra Times with Dr. Michael Sandow revealed how Kyrgios secretly underwent an operation to improve the condition of his joint.
“I think my only goal right now is a Grand Slam. I think that will be the only thing that shuts people up at the end of the day. That will be my biggest motivation,” Kyrgios announced a few weeks ago when he announced his return for next season.
