Ravens Soar Past Texans, Claim AFC North Lead
The holiday spirit was absent on the field Wednesday night as the Baltimore Ravens delivered a resounding 31-2 victory over the Houston Texans. This decisive win propelled the Ravens to the top of the AFC North, surpassing the pittsburgh Steelers who suffered a 29-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the day.
With an 11-5 record, the Ravens now control their own destiny. A win in their final game against the Cleveland Browns will secure the division title.
Lamar Jackson etched his name in NFL history during the game, becoming the league’s all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks. His 87 rushing yards against the Texans brought his career total to 6,110,surpassing Michael Vick’s previous record of 6,109. Remarkably, Jackson achieved this milestone in just 102 games, compared to Vick’s 143.
Jackson’s performance wasn’t limited to rushing. He also showcased his passing prowess, completing 10 passes for 168 yards and throwing touchdown passes to Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews.
Derrick Henry, meanwhile, continued his dominant run, racking up 147 rushing yards and scoring his 14th rushing touchdown of the season. This marks his second consecutive game surpassing the 100-yard mark.
A Masterclass in Offensive Dominance
The Ravens established their dominance early, with Henry leading the charge in the first quarter. His 26 yards on five carries set the tone, culminating in a touchdown that marked his first score in five games.
The Ravens’ defense stifled the Texans’ offense, allowing Jackson and the offense to capitalize. Jackson connected on several key passes, including a 67-yard bomb to Mark Andrews. He later capped off the drive with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Likely, extending the Ravens’ lead to 17-2 by halftime.
The Texans’ struggles continued in the third quarter. An interception by the ravens’ defense set the stage for another scoring drive. Henry and Jackson combined for impressive runs, ultimately leading to a touchdown that pushed the Ravens’ lead to 24-2.
Jackson added another touchdown pass to Andrews, further solidifying the Ravens’ commanding lead.
