Only Federica Brignone is faster than Lara Gut-Behrami in Beaver Creek downhill training. Lindsey Vonn also finds her way on the Birds of Prey.
Lara Gut-Behrami took second place in the first training session for the World Cup downhill in Beaver Creek on Saturday. For the first time, the women are skiing on the Birds of Prey slope, which was previously reserved for men.
Only the Italian Federica Brignone was faster than Gut-Behrami, gaining a lead of 39 hundredths.
Goggia back – Vonn “happy” after training
Sofia Goggia’s comeback after an eight-month injury break was promising. She finished twelfth, 1.5 seconds behind. The other Swiss women lost a lot of time in this first approach.
Lindsey Vonn also returned to the World Cup slope in Beaver Creek. The former ski queen will be at the start on Saturday as the forerunner.
She told SRF after the training: “I had a lot of fun and I’m very, very happy. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.”
Further training sessions are planned in Beaver Creek on Thursday and Friday. The downhill is scheduled for Saturday and a Super-G on Sunday.
