A Thriving Badminton Community in Le Châtelet
The badminton Club Le Châtelet (BCLC) is a vibrant hub for badminton enthusiasts, boasting a membership of 70 licensed players. Dedicated athletes gather three times a week – Mondays, wednesdays, and Fridays – from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, honing their skills at the Syndicat intercommunal à vocation sportive (SIVS) gymnasium.
A meaningful portion of the club’s members, 25 in total, hold official rankings. Notably, the under-18 age group comprises half of the membership, demonstrating a strong commitment to nurturing young talent. Gender balance is also a priority, with an equal representation of male and female players.
Experienced coaches Benoît Cassonnet, the club president, and Nicolas Brunet, lead the training sessions, providing expert guidance and support to players of all levels.
The BCLC’s dedication to creating a welcoming and engaging environment for its members hasn’t gone unnoticed.In June, the club was recognized by the Ligue with a prestigious two-star label, highlighting its remarkable efforts in hospitality and animation.
This commitment to excellence has also attracted the support of local businesses. In December, U-Express, a local grocery store, generously donated 100 jerseys emblazoned with the club’s logo. the presentation coincided with a departmental 3 championship match against Saint-Germain-du-Puy, where the BCLC’s mixed team, captained by Raphaël Isbled, secured a resounding 4-2 victory.

Coach Brunet: absolutely crucial. We see our younger members as the future of badminton in Le Châtelet. Our under-18 age group comprises half our membership, and we’re committed to providing them with the best coaching, facilities, and opportunities to develop their skills.

Coach brunet: It wasn’t so much a conscious decision as it was a natural outcome. Badminton is a sport for everyone, irrespective of gender.We encourage participation from all walks of life and are proud to have such a balanced and diverse membership.
