Leonardo Moyano, former Instituto player, dies

Córdoba football is in mourning. This Saturday the death of Leonardo “Leo” Moyanoformer player of Instituteat the age of 47 years. Moyano was going through a severe illness and, a couple of weeks ago, his family traveled to Spain to accompany him in the last stage of the process.

“Leo” Moyano was a defender who left his mark at Instituto, a club in which he was part of the historic team led by Gerardo Martino that swept the B Nacional. Although he was not the most “marketable” player, Moyano stood out for his solidity in defense and his dedication on the court.

Beyond his time in “La Gloria”, Moyano also wore the shirt of Sportivo Belgrano of San Francisco and Guaraní of Paraguay. After his retirement from football in 2012, he began his path as a technical director and received his degree. Later, he specialized in coaching, a discipline to which he dedicated his life in recent years.

Moyano resided in Valencia, Spain, where he served as director of Ecoa (American Ontological Coaching School) in Europe.

His departure leaves a void in Córdoba football, but his legacy as a player and as a person will live on in the memories of those who knew him.
