A New Era Dawns at Stade Malherbe Caen
Significant changes are underway at Stade Malherbe Caen, currently occupying the 16th position in Ligue 2. As the club welcomes Reda Hammache as its new head of recruitment, it simultaneously announces the departure of nicolas Seube.Seube, a former defender who spent his entire playing career (2001-2017) with SM Caen, took on the coaching role in November 2023. However, his tenure has come to an end, with the club’s management opting for a fresh direction.
Whispers suggest that bruno Miguel Nunes Baltazar, a 47-year-old Portuguese tactician, is poised to take the helm. This potential appointment comes as a surprise, considering Baltazar’s lack of experience coaching in France. His most recent role was leading Radomiak Radom, a club competing in Poland’s top-tier Ekstraklasa.
Interestingly, SM Caen is now under the ownership of Kylian Mbappé, the French football superstar, through his family’s investment fund, Coalition Capital. This acquisition adds another layer of intrigue to the club’s future.
the timing of this coaching change is particularly crucial. Caen faces a critical match against Clermont, currently sitting one position above them in the Ligue 2 standings, on January 3rd. This encounter between two teams battling to avoid relegation promises to be a tense affair.
