Witnessing the electric atmosphere at the recent olympic Games, he’s eager to experience the same fervent support for the Paralympic Games.”Seeing my fellow French badminton players receive such unbelievable cheers and encouragement, even through the television screen, filled me with immense pride and joy,” Mazur shared. “I can only imagine the energy when it’s our turn. I’m incredibly excited and honored that France will host the Paralympic games. Competing in such a magnificent venue will be truly special.”
Mazur’s journey to Paris 2024 has been marked by important changes. Just a few months ago,he made the bold decision to switch coaches and training locations,returning to his original club. This shift, he believes, has been transformative. “I felt a disconnect with my previous coach and longed for a partnership built on mutual trust and shared goals,” Mazur explained. “Training back at my club has allowed me to rediscover myself as an athlete and understand the importance of a supportive environment. Now, I feel a profound sense of unity with my coach, knowing we’re in this together. This newfound synergy will undoubtedly propel us forward.”
His frist match, a mixed doubles showdown against an Indonesian pair alongside teammate Faustine Noël, is scheduled for August 29th. With a renewed sense of purpose and a supportive team behind him, Mazur is poised to make his mark on home soil.

Welcome back to another exciting installment of Insights wiht Champions! Today,we have the privilege of speaking with Paralympic badminton champion Lucas Mazur,who’s on a mission to conquer gold on home soil at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Lucas, welcome to the show!
Lucas: Thanks for having me! It’s great to be here.
It must be thrilling to see the Paralympic Games coming to France.How does it feel knowing you’ll have that astonishing home crowd support?
Lucas: it’s absolutely electrifying! Seeing the response to the Olympic Games was amazing, and I can only imagine the atmosphere at the Paralympics. To compete in Paris in front of my fellow countrymen, representing France, will be an unparalleled honor. The energy from the crowds will definitely push me to my limits.
That leads us perfectly to our next question. You mentioned a renewed sense of energy and focus in your training. You recently made a significant change, returning to your original club and coach. Can you tell us a bit more about that decision and its impact on your game?
lucas: It was a pivotal moment for me. I felt a disconnect with my previous coach, and I realized I needed a training surroundings built on trust and shared goals. Going back to my original club has been transformative. I rediscovered the joy of badminton, the passion that drives me.My coach and I are in sync; we understand each other, support each other, and that synergy is crucial for success.
That’s fantastic to hear. It seems like a true team effort. Now, your first match at Paris 2024 is a highly anticipated mixed doubles showdown against a strong Indonesian pair alongside your teammate Faustine Noël. What are your strategies and expectations going into that match?
Lucas: Indonesia has always been a powerhouse in badminton, so we certainly know it’ll be tough. Faustine and I have been training hard, focusing on our interaction and strategy. We have a strong partnership, and we’re confident in our abilities. The goal is to play our best, give it our all, and enjoy the moment.
Let’s discuss the bigger picture. You’ve achieved incredible success already in your career. What motivates you to keep pushing for more, to chase that gold medal on home soil?
Lucas: The thrill of competition is undeniable. But it’s more than just winning. It’s about inspiring others, showing what’s possible, and proving that anything is achievable with dedication and hard work.
I want to be a role model for young athletes, especially those with disabilities, showing them that they can dream big and achieve their aspirations.
