Teh gymnasium at Blaise-Pascal Lycée in Saint-Dizier buzzed with competitive energy on December 18th as six high school badminton teams from Haute-Marne battled for departmental supremacy. this mixed-team event saw fierce competition between two teams from blaise-Pascal lycée, three teams representing Philippe-Lebon Lycée in Joinville, and a single team from Diderot Lycée in Langres.
the top three teams secured their spots in the upcoming academic championship, scheduled for early 2025 in Vouziers, Ardennes. Blaise-Pascal Lycée emerged victorious, with their team of Cécilia Fior, Lou Georget, Virgil Maire, and Paul Henry claiming the departmental title.
Close behind were two teams from Joinville. The team of Tom Louvet, Esteban Robert, Laly Guillaumot, and Hané Royer secured second place, while Héloïse Florentin, Fantine Buguet, Ilian Michel-Viton, and Nicolas Pongin fought hard to earn third place.
Unluckily, Diderot Lycée from Langres fell just short of the podium, their journey ending at the departmental level.

Coach Dubois: The competition was truly outstanding! These young athletes showed unbelievable skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. Blaise-Pascal Lycée certainly proved themselves to be a formidable force, but the Joinville teams definitely gave them a run for their money. It’s encouraging to see such talent emerging in the region.
Moderator: You mentioned the importance of sportsmanship, and it was certainly on display throughout the tournament.though, some viewers commentating online seemed to question the fairness of two teams from Blaise-Pascal competing against other schools. Do you think this raises concerns about competitive balance?
Coach Dubois: That’s an captivating point. It’s true that having two teams from the same school can potentially give them an advantage. Though, I believe it ultimately comes down to the individual players’ abilities and performance on the day. Both Blaise-Pascal teams earned their spots in the finals fair and square, showcasing impressive skills and teamwork.
Moderator: I understand your viewpoint. It seems the focus should be on celebrating the hard work and dedication of all the athletes involved. Speaking of dedication, what are your thoughts on the upcoming academic championship in Vouziers?
Coach Dubois: The academic championship is a fantastic prospect for these young athletes to test their skills against the best in the region. My advice to them would be to maintain their focus, continue practicing diligently, and most importantly, enjoy the experience.
