Mario Scarzella will leave the federal presidency of FITarco after 24 years

The FITarco will change presidency after 24 years of management under the guidance of the historic number one Mario Scarzella. This was made known by the same federal website, reporting an interview with Scarzella given to Italpress.

On the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the Italian expedition failed to win any medals: “It was special, a moment in which the opponents were stronger than us. We’ll try again, they’ll try again. However, all this does not mean that I am not satisfied with the behavior of the boys, on the contrary.”

On the Paralympics, which instead saw Italy doing well in archery (3 medals: 1 gold and 2 bronzes, ed.): “Here too we met very strong opponents, but our boys demonstrated their very high value and perhaps they deserved a little more because two fourth places are a bit stinging but they highlight the validity of our athletes. We created a structure parallel to the Olympic one and used it for the Paralympic world and this gave us the opportunity to help our kids grow little by little. We haven’t stepped off the podium at the Paralympics in forever.”

Finally, the declaration relating to the desire not to run in the next federal elections, scheduled for 16 February 2025: “I have been the federal president for twenty-four years, the boys and girls have given us great satisfaction, in these years we have collaborated with the entire Italian archery world with excellent expectations for the future and I believe that someone else must carry this forward” .
