Mbappé case: Swedish prosecutors close investigation for “rape” due to insufficient evidence

The Swedish prosecutor’s office announced this Thursday morning that it was closing the investigation for “rape” against Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé (who is not cited directly) due to insufficient evidence. “During the investigation, one person reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment were identified, but I consider that the evidence is not sufficient to continue the procedure and the investigation is therefore closed,” states in a press release from the prosecutor in charge of the case Marina Chirakova, according to whom “the designated person was not suspected of a crime”.

The captain of the French team went to Stockholm (Sweden) in mid-October, and the Swedish justice system confirmed on October 15 the existence of a rape investigation, without ever mentioning the name of the player. Real Madrid, for events which allegedly took place on October 10, 2024 in a hotel in the city center.

According to the local press, the French attacker was then considered “reasonably suspicious” in this investigation, i.e. the lowest level of suspicion provided for by Swedish legislation. Mbappé said he was “not concerned” in an interview with the “clique” show broadcast this Sunday on Canal +. “I received nothing, no summons, nothing,” he continued. I read the same thing as everyone else in the press… The Swedish government hasn’t said anything… So I’m not concerned. » “If justice summoned me? I will go, quite naturally,” continued the attacker.
