Duarte Province Celebrates Sporting Excellence at Annual Awards Ceremony
The Duarte province’s sporting community gathered in full force at the CODIA club to honor the year’s top athletes adn contributors. The Association of Sports Writers of Duarte province hosted the prestigious event, paying tribute to the legacy of Don Rubén de Lara and the memory of Ruddy López guillen.Judokas Medickson del Orbe and Ana smerly Rosa were crowned the province’s most outstanding athletes of 2024. Dr.Edgar Peralta (Johnny), advisor to the Provincial Sports Writers Association, presented them with the coveted IADIS College Cup and municipal mayorship awards.
The ceremony also recognized excellence in other sporting disciplines. ACRODEPRODU bestowed the Referee of the Year award upon Daniel Rodríguez, while José Ramón Severino and Ramona Johanny Compres were named the most outstanding football coaches of 2024.
The Judo Association of Duarte province received accolades for its extraordinary performance throughout the year, earning the title of most outstanding association. Similarly, the Guerrero de Los Rieles club was recognized as the most outstanding club institution.
Leadership within the sporting community was also celebrated. Danilo Javier Jerez from basketball and Sabina Hidalgo from soccer were honored as the most outstanding leaders in their respective fields.
Two prominent sports leagues,ocalis Hiciano from Castillo and Angelitas del Valle from Vista al Valle,were recognized for their contributions to the province’s sporting landscape.
the ceremony extended its thankfulness to key supporters of duarte’s sporting endeavors. Businessman Jasciel Hernández was lauded as the most collaborative figure in the sports sector. Hanser Alberto of the Fe Malta foundation received recognition for his commendable work empowering Franco-Macorisan youth. Mayor Alex Díaz Paulino was honored as the official who demonstrated the most significant support for sports.
Individual achievements within basketball were also highlighted. Dolfy Arias was named the most valuable player of the top basketball tournament featuring reinforcements. Leonel Núñez secured the Rookie of the Year title,andrew Herrera was recognized as the Most Improved Player,and Josay de Jesús received the Most Disciplined Player award.
The evening concluded with captivating performances by international stars Jackeline Estévez and Angelo, adding a touch of musical brilliance to the festivity of Duarte’s sporting triumphs.
