Menorca‘s Archers Shatter Records at Balearic indoor Championships
The 2024 Balearic Indoor Archery Championships witnessed a historic performance from menorca’s archery team. Competing against 83 athletes – a record number for Menorca – the island’s archers secured an unprecedented 14 medals, marking their most accomplished championship to date.
The competition, held over the weekend, kicked off on Saturday wiht a qualifying round consisting of two 30-arrow sets shot from 18 meters. This was followed by the initial elimination rounds. Sunday saw the thrilling finals take place, culminating in a remarkable display of skill and precision.
One standout performance came from Ciutadella archer Julia Florit, who etched her name in the record books by achieving both Balearic and Menorca records in the Recorbat Balear category.Across various categories, Menorca’s archers dominated the podium. Young talent shone brightly in the Infantil division, with Emma Moya claiming gold in the women’s category and Pau altadill securing the top spot in the men’s. The Cadete division saw Iria Vanrell and Aitor Ramiro emerge victorious in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.
In the Junior division,Pilar Pascual and Aitor Marin took home gold medals for the women’s and men’s categories,while Pere Cincunegui secured the top spot in the Senior mixed category. Francisco Aguilera triumphed in the Veterano Mixed category, showcasing the depth of talent across all age groups.The championship also saw remarkable performances in the Compuesto category,with Tania Martín and Borja Goñalons claiming gold in the Junior and Senior Mixed categories respectively. Jaume Taltavull secured the top spot in the Veterano Mixed category, further solidifying Menorca’s dominance.
