The Mexican women’s archery team, comprised of Ángela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, and Ana Vázquez, achieved a historic milestone by securing a spot in the semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.This marks the first time a Mexican women’s archery team has reached this stage in Olympic competition.
Their victory came against a formidable German squad, consisting of Katharina Bauer, Michelle Kroppen, and Charline Schwarz. The match began with a tense first set, ending in a 1-1 tie after a Mexican arrow scored a 9 rather of the intended 10.This victory was particularly sweet for the Mexican team, as it avenged a previous loss to Germany in the same round at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. We’ve been working towards this, especially after our losses to them in the world Championships.”
