Falcons do just enough to beat Raiders 15-9
Kirk Cousins scored his first touchdown pass in five weeks and the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 15-9 on Monday to stay in the heart of the race in the National South Division.
While trying to tie the game with less than 10 seconds left in the game, Raiders (2-12) quarterback Desmond Ridder attempted two desperation passes in the end zone. The second was intercepted by Jessie Bates III.
The Falcons (7-7) ended their four-game losing streak and remain one game behind the section-topping Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons hold the advantage in the tiebreaker.
The Raiders lost a 10e game in a row, the longest active streak in the NFL, and show the worst record in the circuit, tied with the New York Giants.
Cousins, who had eight interceptions in his previous four outings, completed 11 of 17 passes for 112 yards. He connected with Drake London for a touchdown. Bijan Robinson rushed for 125 yards.
Replacing Aidan O’Connell with an injured left knee, Ridder connected with his receivers 23 times on 39 attempts for 208 yards, one touchdown and two steals. Ameer Abdullah scored the middle finger in the defeat.
