For a quarter of a century, Moorsele has embraced a cherished New Year’s tradition: a festive gathering centered around the burning of the Christmas tree. This year, the event has evolved into a spectacular party featuring a captivating sound and light show at the De Stekke community center.
The driving force behind this annual extravaganza is Moorsele Events,spearheaded by Koen grymonprez and Peggy Boen. “This marks our fifth year organizing this event,” shares Koen. “Our aim is too provide a vibrant platform for the Moorsele community to usher in the new year with joy and camaraderie.It’s also crucial that this initiative is driven by and benefits local associations. All proceeds are equally distributed among the participating organizations, with ten groups joining us this year: Chiro, Raak (KWB), De Stekselorde, the Judo Club, gezinsbond, Femma, Den Bascuul, Ons Leute Badminton, the Servio tennis club, and the Chirokoks.”
Families will delight in the array of children’s entertainment available both inside and around De Stekke, including a bouncy castle, face painting, and a balloon artist. The highlight of the evening is undoubtedly the mesmerizing sound and light show, illuminating the night from 5 pm to 10 pm. Hailing from Puurs, the talented team behind RON JALUAI, also known as the Cubes of Wonder, will present a breathtaking display of stacked cubes synchronized with a pulsating laser show and carefully curated music. Throughout the evening, the enchanting melodies of Tralaliere will fill the air, culminating in a lively DJ set by Brahim.

All attendees are invited to savor appetizing hamburgers and fries, accompanied by a warming glass of glühwein or a choice of other beverages, including jenever, Irish or Italian coffee, Baileys, hot chocolate, or a locally brewed Sint-Bernardus beer. Kim: I think it’s fantastic! These kinds of events are so importent for building a strong sense of community. It brings people of all ages together,creates lasting memories,and fosters a real sense of belonging. It’s especially heartwarming to see the proceeds going directly back to local associations. That shows a real commitment to investing in the future of Moorsele.
