– The NFL is relying on Germany as a football location in the long term. The Bavarian capital is applying again.
Munich would like to play two more games in the North American football league NFL. The full assembly of the city council approved an application at its last meeting of the year, it said in a statement.
The NFL recently announced that it would be focusing on Germany as a location in the long term and would play in Berlin for the first time next year. Germany boss Alexander Steinforth said there should be up to three games in the capital by 2029. It is still unclear where the remaining of the at least five games will take place. So far there have been two games each in Munich and Frankfurt.
“The NFL and Munich just fit together,” said Mayor Verena Dietl, according to the statement. “We were the first city in Germany to host a regular season game, and the game this year in November was once again a great success.”
