Last Sunday, it was the start of the school year for the veterans of the Nazairian Judo Club (JCN). On the tatami mats in Nantes they shone, as they did last year.
The Nantes tournament traditionally marks the return to competition after the long summer break. For this first of the season, William Mathey (veterans judo referent of the Pays de la Loire League) had the pleasure of seeing four new judokas come to strengthen the JCN group.
Arnaud Boisnard (2023 French champion) is back after a blank season due to a knee injury. He took a good third place.
Laurientu Gherabu, a Romanian judoka newly arrived in Saint-Nazaire for professional reasons, took the second step of the podium for his first competition in France.
Nine medals in a single day
The other two new ones are old acquaintances from the JCN who are returning to the club. Alexandre Louis ranks second, while Laurent Fumoux wins first.
The JCN team won nine medals in this competition. This was the first step on the road to the French veterans championships, which will take place in June at the national judo center in Paris.
The results of the Nantes tournament: first places for Julie Da Costa (less than 70 kg F2), Laurent Fumoux (less than 90 kg M4), Cyril Farreyre (less than 90 kg M3), William Mathey (less than 100 kg M6); second places for Laurientu Gherabu (less than 73 kg M3), Alexandre Louis (less than 90 kg M5), Christopher Tascon (more than 100 kg M2); third places for Arnaud Boisnard (less than 90 kg M5), Benjamin Ragot (more than 100 kg M3); seventh places for Xavier Toutain (less than 73 kg M4) and Samuel Farrugia (less than 90 kg M3).
