Silver pointed out that the consistency of the offense is a bigger concern than the number of three-pointers attempted. The league is examining possible adjustments to promote greater variety in the game, while recognizing that the evolution of tactics is often driven by player and coach preferences.
In the past, the NBA has made changes to influence the style of play. For example, between 1994 and 1997, the three-point line was moved closer from 7.25 meters to 6.75 meters in an effort to increase scoring. However, this change led to overuse of the three-point shot, and the league decided to restore the original distance.
Currently, the NBA is carefully monitoring the evolution of the game, considering the impact of new trends on game dynamics and spectator interest. Any future decisions will aim to maintain a balance between innovation and tradition, ensuring the game remains engaging and competitive.
