NBA: Chris Paul eternal, second

12.092.
This is the number of assists that Chris Paul, a veteran guard in the NBA, needed to overtake Jason Kidd in the All Time assist ranking.
At the end of the game the San Antonio Spurs honored CP3 with a commemorative ball Surprisingly, the names of all the players who have served at least one assist in his career including, Blake Griffin (1.157 ast) David West (1.120 ast) e JJ Reddick (643 ast), DeAndre Jordan (574 ast) these are his favorite “targets”.

Celebratory ball donated by the San Anotnio Spurs to Chris Paul.

Paul is the third player to have crossed the 12,000 assist threshold, in addition to him and Kidd (12,091 assists) and on the top step of the podium is John Stockton (15.806 ast).
Paul said he had been inspired by the latter since the beginning:

The first time I played Utah I looked at the Stockton records banner and promised myself I would get there…

Now an impossible mission for the Spurs point guard in his twentieth NBA season, who seems to confirm his reputation as the eternal second. To date, in fact, he has not yet managed to win an NBA ring, let’s remember the feat with Phoenix in 2021 beaten in the Finals by Bucks. However, this is only a minimal shadow on the extraordinary career of Paul who was able to delight us with spectacular passes and memorable baskets and rightly became one of the names that have most characterized the game in recent decades.
