The NBA Cup has completed the group stage in its second edition: After the games on Tuesday, the eight teams that will move into the round of the last eight next week have been determined, as well as the semi-finals and the final, which will take place in Las Vegas.
Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers won the inaugural NBA Cup, a tournament created to draw spectators to the NBA during the NFL season. The format is similar to European soccer competitions, with the 30 teams divided into six groups, three for each conference and four games that are also part of the regular season.
The winner of each group qualifies for the Round of 8, and the best runner-up in each conference also advances as a wildcard. These are the eight teamswho qualified for the NBA Cup this year:
West Conference:
Gruppe A – Houston Rockets (3-1)
Group B – Oklahoma City Thunder (3-1)
Group C – Golden State Warriors (3-1)
Group C – Dallas Mavericks (3-1)
Eastern Conference:
Group A – New York Knicks (4-0)
Group A – Orlando Magic (3-1)
Group B – Milwaukee Bucks (4-0)
Group C – Atlanta Hawks (3-1)
The quarterfinals will be played on December 10th and 11th. Then the remaining four teams head to Las Vegas to compete in the semifinals (December 14th) and finals (December 17th).
