NBA hammer fixed! Schröder united with curry

From the East to the West Coast: Dennis Schröder continues to move through North America, the Warriors confirm the deal.

Just a few days ago, Dennis and Ellen Schröder were enjoying the hustle and bustle in Times Square, but they will no longer be celebrating Christmas in New York. The next move is coming up for the German basketball world champion and his family, this time from the east coast to the west coast of the USA – in the middle of the season, but that’s just how it is in the NBA. Hardly anyone knows this better than Dennis Schröder.

His next stop after just ten months with the Brooklyn Nets: San Francisco. The Golden State Warriors. The champions of 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. The Californians confirmed on Sunday the deal that US media had already reported the day before. Schröder has already appeared on social networks in the Warriors jersey, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

The trade is not unexpected, not even for Schröder, who is now waiting for the eighth team of his NBA career. “I’ve been here for twelve years, I know how the business works,” the 31-year-old said after the start of the season and emphasized: “In the end, I play for Brooklyn, I’m very happy here. But you know that you also play for everyone else.”

Schröder uses the shop window

Schröder took advantage of the showcase with the Nets; with an average of 18.4 points and 6.6 assists per game, he is one of the best development players in the league. Now he has the chance for sporting success. As a teammate of basketball icon Stephen Curry, four-time NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist in Paris, the goals will be different than in Brooklyn, where a lot of things were designed for the future.

The Warriors are fifth in the West; until De’Anthony Melton’s serious knee injury, things were going great for the team with experienced master coach Steve Kerr. Without Melton (26), the “Dubs” lost seven of the last nine games. Its failure “changed everything,” Kerr admitted frankly. Schröder should bring the statics back into the game, possibly initially from the bench.

Nevertheless, the trade is also a logical step for the captain of the national team, and because the Nets will receive three second-round picks from the Warriors in addition to Melton in the future, it could become a win-win-win situation.

The exchange fits the teams’ current orientation, Schröder can hope for sporting success and a new contract. His current one, worth $13 million, expires in the summer of 2025.

Schröder still has a lot to do

Before he returns to his hometown of Braunschweig with his family, Schröder wants to play at the highest NBA level for a few more years and earn good money at the same time. At 36 years old, Curry shows what is possible. Just for the opportunity to play with the two-time MVP, Schröder’s next move across the USA is worth it – especially since he has long since come to terms with his travels.

“That’s part of it, I take it in a sporty and professional way. When there are changes, I try to take them positively,” he said at the beginning of December South German newspaper. A few days later it says: “Goodbye, New York” and “Welcome to California”.
