11.12.2024 Mühlhausen.

Good results on the last tournament weekend and a warm rain on St. Nicholas Day by the management of the East market area of the -Raiffeisen meine Bank eG- Mühlhausen branch for the judo department of SV Mühlhausen in the amount of €1500.00.

For the SV Mühlhausen judoka, a tournament weekend always begins with Friday training. St. Nicholas Day was no exception.

However, Santa Claus did not appear for the judo department, but the East Market Area Management of Raiffeisen – meine Bank eG. – in the form of Corinna Göttl and a check from the Mühlhausen branch in the amount of € 1,500 to promote youth work in the judo department.

This attention and recognition of the successful work was received with thunderous enthusiasm by children, trainers and department management. This means that many projects can be continued and expanded, such as the programs “Making Girls Strong” and “Judo for Children Who Can Do More”

So motivated, the young and older players with a total of 11 fighters from the u11 and u14 went to the Walhalla Cup in Neutraubling on Saturday to show the just over 300 participants from 55 clubs from all over Bavaria what the Mühlhausen judo children do have it like that.

Almost always the youngest starters in all age and weight classes, Johanna Langer and Lukas Wittmann in the u11, won the coveted gold medals without giving up a single point.

Ben Bratfisch won the bronze medal. Johanna Langer and Leo Bratfisch also took third place according to the competition lists, and Martin Piehler a great fifth place.

For the four Maresa and Simon Mößler, Toni Kayser and Fabio Walther, who were starting in the u14 age group, this class was completely new territory because the u15 fighting rules were applied.

The tournament had the quality of an open Bavarian championship, and the newcomers had to put in a lot of effort to be able to keep up with their opponents, some of whom were two to three years older.

Maresa Mößler showed very good techniques and implemented the entire training program 1:1, which, as the very youngest, gave her no medal, but the utmost respect from her opponents and a remarkable 5th place. Brother Simon also had a lot to do and was able to take fifth place as the very youngest with two wins.

Toni Kayser was eliminated in the consolation round after one win and two defeats.

Fabio Walther got a small score in the consolation round – 10 seconds before the goal was closed – and then starved to death in the hold.

It wasn’t just an extremely long day of competition for the children, and the department management will strongly consider further participation under these conditions next year.

Nevertheless, on Sunday the trainers and supervisors went to the annual St. Nicholas tournament in Vohenstrauß, almost on the Czech border.

All beginners interested in the competition with no or very little competition experience were invited.

Also there were Antonia and Johann Strobl with their parents and grandparents, Jakob and Lena Wittmann with their parents, Sarah and Martin Piehler also with their accompanying entourage, as well as Sophia Göttl with their parents and David Völkel with their dad and trainer.

The individual groups started with a diverse mix of girls and boys. The slight head problems – girls should fight against boys – were quickly resolved. Making girls strong was the popular motto. And then everything went smoothly.

Gold for Sophia Göttl, silver for David Völkel and Jakob and Lena Wittmann. Bronze for the Strobl sisters Antonia and Johanna and the Piehler siblings Sarah and Martin.

The huge Santa Claus and the first judo cup sweetened the award ceremony so that the whole entourage left the hall at 2 p.m. and reached their home country in the daylight.
