Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell causes a scandal during the game.
Last season, San Francisco made it to the Super Bowl in the NFL. This year, things aren’t going as planned for the West Coast franchise.
On Friday night, the 49ers lost to the Los Angeles Rams 6:12. It is the eighth defeat of the season and the fourth from the last five games.
The team’s problems apparently go beyond the sporting aspect. There was a scandal against the Rams during the game.
Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell leaves the field in the second half to the astonishment of many fans. It later turns out that there was actually no reason for his departure.
Coach: “He said he didn’t want to play today”
Head coach Kyle Shanahan explains in the press conference after the game: “He said he didn’t want to play today.” He has never experienced anything like this in his coaching career.
The behavior doesn’t go down well with Campbell’s teammates either. “I think it was a selfish action. He definitely hurt the team,” says cornerback Charvarius Ward.
Campbell signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers before this season. He was in the starting lineup in twelve of the first 13 games.
What will happen next for the former All-Pro in the NFL after this incident is uncertain.
