NFL: Drew Lock will once again be the starting quarterback for the Giants against the Saints

With Tommy DeVito still bothered by forearm pain, Drew Lock will make a second straight start at quarterback for the New York Giants on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Head coach Brian Daboll announced the decision Wednesday, adding that Lock showed good performance against the Dallas Cowboys in the American Thanksgiving game.

DeVito, who was injured in his first start following the departure of quarterback Daniel Jones against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 24, was limited in practice. Daboll said he still doesn’t know if DeVito will be able to be the backup quarterback Sunday at MetLife Stadium, where the Giants (2-10) are winless in their last six games.

If he is unable to occupy this role against the Saints (4-8), then the Giants will offer the reserve quarterback position to Tim Boyle.

Lock, who joined the Giants as a free agent during the summer, was the backup quarterback behind Jones for the first 10 games of the season. When Daboll benched Jones after the Giants began their campaign with a 2-8 record, he promoted DeVito over Lock, since the New Jersey native had started a three-game winning streak. in the absence of injured Jones and reserve Tyrod Taylor last season.

DeVito injured his right forearm in a 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers, and Lock was given the next start against the Cowboys four days later.
