NFL games 2025 in Germany: Munich comes away empty-handed – for now – Munich

There had been rumors since the NFL game in Munich a month ago, and on Wednesday the North American football league made its Germany plans for 2025 public: As expected, Munich will come away empty-handed because Berlin has been awarded a league game for the first time. The date and exact fixtures in the Berlin Olympic Stadium have not yet been announced; it could take a few months, it was said.

Frankfurt and Munich have each played two games in the biggest football league since 2022. In November, Berlin sports senator Iris Spranger (SPD) announced that the capital had applied for five NFL games in a row until 2029. 12.5 million euros have already been planned for investments for the coming year.

The NFL now explained in a press conference in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium that the 2025 game is “part of a multi-year commitment in the sports metropolis.” According to rumors, however, there will not be five games, so more games could take place in Munich or Frankfurt in the coming years – especially since it cannot be ruled out that Germany will be awarded two league games per season again. In 2025, a total of eight games will be played outside the USA.
