In the NFC, the Detroit Lions would also have a bye as the top seed. The Washington Commanders would face the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers would clash with the Los Angeles Rams, and the Minnesota Vikings would meet the Atlanta Falcons in the Wild Card matchups.
As the regular season winds down, the race for the coveted NFL MVP award is heating up. while the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, a potential three-time champion, is absent from the top contenders list, other players are making strong cases.

The Playoff Race Heats Up: A Conversation with Super Bowl Champion Steve Smith Sr.
Welcome back, everyone, to another episode of “Gridiron Gab”! Today, we’ve got a real treat for you – a legend of the game, Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowl wide receiver, Steve Smith Sr.! Steve, thanks for joining us.
Steve Smith Sr.: Glad to be here. Always happy to talk football.
Moderator: Absolutely. And there’s plenty to talk about as we head into the final week of the regular season. The playoff picture is starting to solidify – nine teams have already booked their tickets. what are your thoughts on where things stand right now?
Steve Smith Sr.: It’s been a wild ride, that’s for sure. You’ve got the usual suspects like the Chiefs and Bills looking strong, but you also see some unexpected contenders like the Lions and the Jaguars making a late push. That’s what makes the NFL so exciting; anything can happen.
Moderator: speaking of the Lions, they’ve shocked a lot of people this year. They’re the projected top seed in the NFC, which would meen a bye week in the playoffs. Can they keep this momentum going into the post-season?
Steve Smith Sr.: They’ve surprised everyone, including me.Dan Campbell has them playing with a toughness and confidence I haven’t seen in detroit in a long time. but the playoffs are a different beast, man. It’ll be interesting to see if they can handle the pressure.
Moderator: Absolutely. Let’s shift gears and talk about another interesting growth – the race for the MVP. Patrick Mahomes, traditionally a frontrunner, isn’t even in the top contenders list. Who do you think deserves the MVP trophy this year?
steve Smith Sr.: You know,it’s tough to look past Josh Allen right now. He’s been absolutely electric for the Bills, leading them to another strong season.
But let’s not forget about Lamar Jackson.
The man is a human highlight reel and has carried the ravens offence all season long. It’s a tight race, but I’d give the edge to Allen right now.
Moderator: interesting take, Steve. Allen is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Football fans, what are your thoughts on the MVP race? Stir up the debate in the comments below; we want to hear your opinions!
Now,Steve, with the playoffs just around the corner, who do you think will be the teams to beat in each conference?
Steve Smith Sr.: In the AFC,it’s gotta be the Chiefs. Just too much firepower with Mahomes at the helm.
But watch out for the Bills.
They’ve got the experience and the talent to make a serious run. In the NFC, I’m leaning towards the Eagles. they’re well-rounded and have a powerful offense.
Let’s not forget the cowboys though; they seem to be peaking at the right time.
Moderator: Great insights, Steve.
