NFL seeks to join the Liga MX Investment Fund: What role will it have?

The arrival of the investment fund to the Liga MX continues to advance and this week it emerged that Juan Carlos Rodríguezcommissioner of the Mexican Soccer Federation, sent a letter to the owners of the Mexican clubs to inform them that he reached an agreement with Apollo Global Managementinterested investment group.

The American specialized media, Sportico, had access to the document, in which ‘Bomba’ Rodríguez highlighted the interest in joining the investment by some franchises of the NFL. Regarding this, Iván Pirrón stood out on the Buen Morning Show RECORD+ that the Dallas Cowboys,headed by Jerry Jonesis one of the teams involved.

He added that they also add Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ersin addition to Josh Harrisnew owner of the Washington Commanders who is also co-founder of Apollo and general partner of Crystal Palace in the Premier League. He highlighted that they are franchises whose owners do not have teams in the MLS.

“They want to get into soccer in some way and what better than Liga MX, negotiating all the rights in the NFL style,” explained Pirrón. “What Apollo wants to negotiate is the whole multimedia matter of Liga MX in the United States in the style of the NFL.”

For now, it is not a given that this NFL participation will come to fruition. It will be next Friday, December 13, when the Owners Assembly and the details corresponding to this matter are defined.
