San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will quickly want to forget about the 2024 season.
On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that the star player’s name had been placed on the injured list and that he would be sidelined for six weeks.

McCaffrey injured his knee during Sunday night’s game against the Bills in Buffalo. However, he will not need to go under the knife.
There are five weeks left in the NFL regular season, meaning the 28-year-old running back has likely played his last game this year. The 49ers, who have maintained a 5-7 record so far in 2024, are still in the race to make the playoffs, but their chances of making it are very slim (9%).
McCaffrey was forced to miss the Niners’ first eight games this season as he was hampered by persistent calf and Achilles tendon problems.
In four games, the running back amassed 202 yards on 50 carries. He also caught 15 of 19 passes thrown his way for 146 yards. McCaffrey also did not experience the joy of finding the paying zone this season.
