NFL: three regular season games in Berlin in 2025, 2027 and 2029

The Berlin Olympic Stadium will host a total of three NFL regular season games in the fall of 2025, 2027 and 2029, the league and the German capital announced in a joint press release on Wednesday.

The exact date of the 2025 meeting and the two franchises involved will be announced later.

Germany hosted NFL games for the first time in the fall of 2022 in Munich at the Allianz Arena. The Seattle Seahawks and the legendary Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off in front of nearly 70,000 spectators.

In the fall of 2023, the Waldstadion in Frankfurt hosted two matches (Miami Dolphins against Kansas City Chiefs, and Indianapolis Colts against New England Patriots), and a month ago, the meeting between the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers took place in Munich.

“Germany has a rich tradition with American football and the NFL has a history with the city of Berlin,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Built for the 1936 Olympics and renovated for the 2006 Soccer World Cup, the Berlin Olympic Stadium can hold 74,500 spectators. Since its renovation, the stadium has hosted the final of the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2024, the final of the 2015 Champions League as well as the 2009 World Athletics Championships.

The NFL has been relocating regular season matches since 2009, first to London, then to Mexico (from 2016), then to Germany, and most recently in 2024 to Brazil.

Starting with the 2025 season, up to eight regular season games can be played abroad. For 2025, two will be played in London, one in Madrid, and one in Berlin. Other host cities may be announced at a later date, the NFL said.
