On the third day of the individual UEM, there were as many excellent performances as there were Danish players on the field. And they were numerous.
– I don’t think there was anyone who didn’t come out close to their best, said U19 national coach Jonas Lyduch, when he took stock of a day that featured matches in both the second and third rounds of the individual tournament.

The day began for the Danes with a mixed doubles meet. Here, Danish Jesper Østergaard Christensen and Caroline Mouritsen faced twelfth-seeded opposition in Thibault Gardon and Kathell Destmots-Chacun. Although it ended in French victory, it was not without solid resistance from the Danish constellation, which did not allow the French a victory in two sets, but forced the match into a third, 15-21, 21-13, 15-21.
– The only match we lose is the mixed one, which we start with this morning. I don’t really think we were favorites there either. I think the French pair are reasonably good, and we lose in a relatively close three-setter, said Jonas Lyduch about the only Danish defeat of the day.
All subsequent confrontations ended with Danish triumph, and that even though not all tasks were straightforward. The Danish men’s doubles, Robert Nebel and Otto Reiler, for example, met the same Turkish pair consisting of Bugra Aktas and Mehmet Can Toremis, who in the team tournament proved to be a challenge that at the time had to be solved in three sets. Today, the Danes found the solution in two, 21-18, 21-18.
– Where we are under the most pressure is in this men’s doubles against Turkey, with whom we also play three sets in the team tournament. It is clear that we have great respect for them. I think we play well there. We also have a bit of luck in it. It wasn’t quite easy to get home, but I think it was a good performance, said Jonas Lyduch.

Kajsa Van Dalm also delivered a great performance against a challenging opponent of the caliber of the seventh seed. The Dane took Ukrainian Anastasiia Alymova in stride and the victory in two sets, 21-18, 21-14.
– I also think Kajsa delivers a really good performance against a Ukrainian who won the U17 European Championships a year and a half ago. I also think that is a good victory. She beat her pretty sure. And then we had a men’s doubles with Philip, who was ill yesterday, but was even better today. So we also got him through the men’s doubles. And he will hopefully be even fresher tomorrow, said Jonas Lyduch.
Philip Kryger Boe, who had been very ill the night before Sunday, went to the field today with his partner Jesper Østergaard Christensen, where they had to face Czech opposition in Vojtěch Havlíček and Patrik Hrazdíra, who are eighth seeded at the tournament. However, the Danes did not let that deter them, which is why no more than two more sets were needed before the victory was in the house, 21-14, 21-13.

Tomorrow, a number of new and exciting challenges await the young Danish talents.
– We will have some difficult matches. There are both round of 16 and hopefully also some quarter-finals tomorrow that we have to play. But now it’s starting to get harder and harder. In any case, Kajsa faces a difficult task in her women’s singles, where she has to face Nella Nyqvist from Finland, who I think is one of the better women’s singles in the tournament. So it will be really exciting. We are going to play some difficult matches tomorrow, said Jonas Lyduch about how the Danish squad looks forward to tomorrow.
