No age to play badminton

Garchizy. First general assembly of Volant Garchizois. Anthony Hugotte, president of the Le Volant Garchizois (badminton) association, led its general assembly, at the association hall, in the presence of the mayor, Michel Monet, and around thirty people.

The president began his moral report with thanks addressed to the municipality which supported the creation of the association both financially and from a logistical point of view.

The Garchizois shuttlecock, created in September 2023, opened its doors to the public on 1 is March 2024, with a discovery morning where eighty people came to try badminton. And it was a great success. For this half-season, the club has made thirty-nine registrations (thirty-three adults and six young people under 18 years old) with an average age of 35 to 45 years old.

No matter the level

At the end of the season, the managers organized an internal mixed doubles tournament which was well appreciated by the participants. Treasurer Delphine Hugotte presented the financial report which showed a positive balance. The sports license remains at €75.

The president delivered the projects for the 2024-2025 season: organization of a lottery, Sunday February 9; a belote competition, Saturday April 5; a flea market (date not defined), without forgetting the competitions, the adult and children’s courses, the tournaments planned for 2025. Then he ended this meeting reminding that to practice badminton, there is no age and it doesn’t matter the level; it’s fun, good for morale, it strengthens the thighs and buttocks, it strengthens conviviality and team spirit. The mayor said he was satisfied with the good functioning of this association. In addition, he stressed that the municipality is well aware that the gymnasium floor will have to be changed.
