Not being able to play in the final match “humiliating experience” – Tennis News – Tennis 365 | tennis365.net

S. Tsitsipas (Greece), ranked 11th in the world in men’s tennis, updated his Instagram on November 29th, expressing his failure to participate in this year’s Nitto ATP Finals (Turin, Italy, indoor hard) as “humiliating”. A great experience.”

Tsitsipas, who is 26 years old and has achieved his highest ranking of No. 3 in the world, won one title this season, but ended the season in double digits in the world ranking for the first time in six years since 2018.

In particular, he has participated in the final game at the end of the year, the Nitto ATP Finals, for five consecutive years since winning in 2019 until last year, but he was unable to participate this year, and the venue was held as an alternate to take part in the event of a participant withdrawing. I was waiting.

However, the tournament ended as there were no absentees. Tsitsipas will finish the tournament he had previously participated in as an alternate.

Approximately a week after the final match, Tsitsipas looked back on this season and wrote on Instagram that it was a “humbling experience.”

“Not being able to play at this year’s ATP Finals was a humbling experience that taught me the importance of resilience and perspective. I strive for that, but ‘perfection’ is within me. I learned that it doesn’t exist. Even if you want it, thinking about it doesn’t make it happen. The real difference is execution and consistent effort.”

“Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s a process that requires patience and dedication, even if you don’t see immediate results. I believe this change will get me where I want to go.”

Although Tsitsipas won the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters (Monaco/Monte Carlo, red clay, ATP1000) in April this year, he parted ways with his father and coach Apostolos Tsitsipas in August. Dimitris Chatzinikolaou, who is currently Greece’s Davis Cup captain, has been invited as a coach, and next season will start with the United Cup (Australia/Perth, Sydney, Hard), which will open on December 29th.
