The German basketball icon Dirk Nowitzki is also known as the famous colorful dog in his adopted home of the USA around five years after his career ended – and is therefore now returning to the screens at least nationwide and possibly even in Germany. As US media report, the Würzburg native is about to be hired as an NBA expert on Amazon Prime and would thus be celebrating his TV debut.
The 45-year-old is then supposed to classify the top matches for the (streaming) giant’s customers. Amazon has secured the rights to the North American elite league for the first time from the 2025/26 season. In the USA, Amazon shares this with the major broadcasters ABC, NBC and ESPN.
Amazon Prime has acquired global rights to the NBA, which will include around 100 games per season for eleven years from the 2025/26 season – these can then also be seen in Germany on Prime Video. Nowitzki’s signing could also be aimed at this background.
