During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Clarisse Agbegnenou represented France and was a double Olympic medalist: she won individual bronze and mixed team gold.
Before her meeting with the Ambassador, the French judoka of Togolese origin was received on November 7 by the Minister of Sports and Leisure, Dr. Lidi Bessi Kama, for a warm meeting. This stay in the land of her ancestors allowed the Olympic champion to strengthen her ties with Togo, her country of origin.
Clarisse Agbegnenou, five-time European champion, six-time world champion and double reigning Olympic champion, is the most successful French judoka in history. After reaching the pinnacle of her career, she gave birth to a baby girl, Athena, a name symbolizing both wisdom and strength.
Returning to the highest level after pregnancy is a rare feat in the sporting world. However, the champion made her comeback to competition during the Judo Champions League in November 2022. She further captivated her audience at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where she won her fourth Olympic medal, thus consolidating her status as living legend of judo. The impact of her journey goes beyond the sporting framework, becoming a source of inspiration for many young people, particularly in Togo, where she continues to share her experience and values.
