Ottersberger TC II presents itself with strong nerves

In a thriller with four decisions in the match tiebreak, the tennis men 55 of the Ottersberger TC II prevailed 4:2 at TV Rot-Weiß Bremen. The guests laid the foundation for the Oberliga away win in the individual matches.

Sven Brehmer easily achieved a confident two-set win in fourth place. After his illness, Michael Kersting was also back on board. He didn’t allow his opponent to equalize the set in the meantime and played a concentrated match tiebreak to win 10:4. Andre Stelling also had to fight hard. He was clearly on course for victory in his duel before he twisted his ankle and saved a three-set victory over the finish line with a badly swollen ankle. Andreas Schach also showed fighting qualities in the top singles. After a 0:6 in the first round, Schach found its way into the game and hit back with a 6:4. In the third set, his opponent had the better end at 10:5.

If the singles weren’t already exciting enough, the second doubles in particular were even more exciting. “We were limited in our options due to Andre’s injury and were prepared to leave with a draw,” said captain Jen’s player, explaining the mood after the individual matches. In the first doubles, Andreas Schach and Sven Brehmer fought back as best they could, but couldn’t prevent them losing 6:7, 2:6. Wulf Meyer and Jens players were behind on the next court with 1:6, 2:5 and 15:40. The OTC duo fended off both match points.

“And then the opponents’ heads came into play. They became more and more error-prone, we became more and more secure. “So one thing led to another and I experienced a turn of events that I had never experienced in my years as a tennis player,” reported the player, who, together with Meyer, won point after point and actually ensured his team’s away success with a three-set win: “That was crazy and is of course a great starting point for us on the way to staying in the league.”
