At the Oscars in March 2022, actor Will Smith ensured that the film made the headlines for more than just the prestigious award.
Smith, who received the Oscar for Best Actor in the film “King Richard” at the Academy Awards, slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage.
As host of the award ceremony, he had previously made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada’s hair loss due to illness.
It was a little lost on what the film is actually about, which premieres on TV this Sunday at 8:15 p.m Sat1 running. It tells the story of the two siblings Venus and Serena Williams, who became the most successful tennis players of all time.

They owe this success largely to their father Richard Williams, who supported his daughters from an early age and gave them intensive training. With great success: Serena won 23 Grand Slam tournaments, Venus won seven.

Smith later apologized and called his actions “unacceptable” and “inexcusable” and said violence in any form was “toxic and destructive.”
