The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Palermo, in synergy with soldiers of the 12th Sicily Regiment and the Palermo Villagrazia Dog Unit, carried out a control activity aimed at combating widespread illegalities in the San Filippo Neri district.
The soldiers of the two city companies, Palermo San Lorenzo and Piazza Verdi, assisted by some crews of the Radiomobile Unit and together with the verifying technicians of ENEL and personnel of the Istituto Autonomo Case Popolari, they combed the streets of the Zen 2 neighborhood and found various irregularities.
The checks allowed 70 people to be referred in a state of freedom to the Palermo Prosecutor’s Office, of which 32 for theft of electricity with irregular withdrawals carried out through dangerous and precarious illegal connections to the network, 36 for invasion of buildings as they illegally occupied public housing not assigned to them, one for detention for the purpose of dealing drugs, possession of false coins and illegal carrying of weapons or objects capable of offending and one for driving under the influence of alcohol which tested positive on the breathalyzer test.
Overall, 245 people were identified, 40 vehicles checked, 15 searches carried out, over 100 grams of cocaine and hashish divided into doses and ready for retail sale were seized; Furthermore, 6 counterfeit 20 euro banknotes were seized, a baseball bat transported without justified reason, and 15 fines were imposed under the highway code for a total of 17,659 euros in administrative fines.
All the narcotic substances seized during the activities of the Carabinieri departments were sent to the Narcotic Substances Analysis Laboratory of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Palermo, for qualitative and quantitative analyses. The control activities in the neighborhood will continue in the coming days and weeks with the main objective of preventing and combating the phenomena of widespread crime and the consequent urban decay which significantly affect real safety and that perceived by many honest citizens. of the neighborhood.
