Young Athletes Showcase Grit and determination in Weekend Matches
The Farigliano basketball program saw a mixed bag of results this past weekend, with victories for the CSI and Beginners teams, and a hard-fought loss for the Under 13 Gold squad.CSI Secures Victory Despite Defensive Lapses
The CSI team emerged victorious against ABA Saluzzo with a score of 58-40.While the final scoreline suggests a agreeable win, the Farigliano players struggled defensively and lacked precision in their offensive plays for much of the game. It was only in the final quarter, fueled by superior stamina, that they managed to establish a decisive lead and secure the victory.
Under 13 Gold Battles valiantly Against Top-Ranked Gators
Facing a formidable opponent in the Gators, the Under 13 Gold team displayed remarkable resilience despite missing several key players. The Gators, currently leading their division, dominated the early stages of the game, capitalizing on their height advantage with their centre racking up an notable 35 points.
the Fariglianese squad fought back valiantly in the second quarter, employing aggressive tactics and narrowing the gap to just four points. However, their energy waned in the latter half, and a series of unfavorable referee calls further hampered their efforts.
Beginners conclude First Phase with Impressive Win
The youngest members of the Farigliano program, the Beginners team, concluded the first phase of their season with a resounding 10-6 victory over Saluzzo. This marked their second triumph against the same opponent this season, demonstrating their consistent improvement and competitive spirit.
The young athletes showcased impressive teamwork and determination throughout the match, consistently challenging their opponents and ultimately securing a well-deserved victory.

A Weekend on the Court: An Interview with Coach Elena Rossi
This weekend saw some exciting action for the Farigliano basketball program. Joining me today to discuss the highs and lows of the weekend’s matches is Coach Elena Rossi, a veteran basketball coach who knows the youth program inside and out. Coach Rossi, welcome!
Coach Rossi: Thanks for having me. It was definately a weekend full of different emotions, but I’m encouraged by what I saw from our teams.
Moderator : Let’s start with the CSI team. They secured a victory against ABA Saluzzo, which sounds positive on paper. However, the reports suggest some defensive lapses throughout the game.Is this a cause for concern, Coach?
Coach Rossi: It definitely is something we need to address. While I’m happy with the final result and the team’s resilience in scoring key baskets in the final quarter, consistency on defense is crucial.we’ve got some talented players on this team, but they need to understand that defense wins games. We’ll be focusing heavily on improving our defensive strategies in practice this week.
Moderator: Moving on to the Under 13 Gold Squad – they faced a tough opponent in the Gators, who are currently leading their division. What were yoru thoughts on the team’s performance?
Coach Rossi: They faced an uphill battle, especially with several key players missing. The Gators are a formidable team, and their centre dominated early on. But I was incredibly impressed with our players’ fighting spirit. They came out strong in the second quarter and really pushed the Gators. Unfortunately, they flagged in the later stages and some calls didn’t go our way. But, this shows the grit and determination I see in these young athletes.
Moderator: a big congratulations to the Beginners team on their resounding victory over Saluzzo! They seem to be experiencing a very successful season.
Coach Rossi: Absolutely! These young players are developing nicely, and it’s fantastic to see their hard work paying off. Their teamwork was excellent this weekend, and their ability to challenge their opponents is remarkable. This win is a testament to their commitment and growth.
Moderator: So, looking ahead, Coach Rossi, what are your goals for the Farigliano program in the coming weeks and months?
Coach Rossi: Our primary focus is progress. We want these young athletes to learn the fundamentals of the game, develop their skills, and importantly, build their confidence. wins are great, but seeing these kids grow as players and individuals is what truly matters.
Moderator: Thanks for your insights, Coach Rossi. Those are words any young athlete – and parent – can get behind!
