Remembering Park Seol-bong: A Life of Community and Achievement
The Seattle Korean community mourns the loss of Park Seol-bong,a respected community leader and prosperous businessman,who passed away on October 20th at the age of 85.
Born in Korea, Mr. Park earned his degree in English from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. in 1976,he embarked on a new chapter in his life,relocating to Seattle to lead the American branch of namyang Fisheries,his family’s business. he furthered his education by obtaining an MBA from City University, demonstrating his commitment to professional growth.
mr. park’s contributions extended far beyond the business world. He actively engaged in the Korean community,forming an OB club with prominent figures like the late former washington State Senator Shin Ho-beom and former Seattle Korean Association President Kwak Jong-se. their shared passion for sports led them to participate in activities like soccer and tennis, fostering camaraderie and a sense of belonging.
Mr. Park’s legacy is one of dedication, leadership, and community spirit. He leaves behind his wife, Park Shin-ae, and two sons, Park Gyu-nam and Park Gyu-taek.A memorial service honoring Mr. Park’s life will be held at Bellevue Overlake Presbyterian Church on October 30th at 3:00 PM.The service will be conducted in English with simultaneous Korean interpretation and live streaming,ensuring accessibility for all who wish to pay their respects.
