EL NUEVO DIARIO, ATLANTA.- Lately withdrawals arrive after we believe they have already happened. Paul Millsap, who has not played an NBA game since 2022, is hanging up his shoes. The power forward came out of nowhere in the 2006 Draft, in which he was chosen with number 47 by the Utah Jazz. With them he played his first seven seasons in the league, to which he added another nine between the Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets and his short stay in the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia Sixers.
Millsap was a four-time All-Star: 2014, 15, 16 and 17. All of them when he played with the Hawks, the team he led to the Eastern finals in 2015 along with Mike Budenholzer, Al Horford and company. The former player was the son of the stage of the open four as a fashion that was mainly inaugurated by Dirk Nowitzki. Although at the beginning of his career in Utah his interior side weighed more, moving away from the rim to open spaces was what ended up establishing him among the best power forwards in the league.
He retires with 1,085 games under his belt and 14,536 points and 7,673 rebounds under his belt. Being one of the only eight players to have reached 500 triples, 1000 blocks and 1000 steals (via Shams Charania).
